Innovation Award for the R&D Team Neuhaus & Brensbach

At this year’s Röchling Conference, held in November in Bolzano and at the RA site in Leifers, Italy, all three divisions were once again honored with the Röchling Innovation Award. The award is presented annually to one project from each division, recognizing employees who drive and enrich the company with outstanding ideas. This marks the 19th year the award has been presented.

This year, the Röchling Medical Innovation Award goes to Ralf Tröbs, Manuela Momberg, Luca Nolte, Frank Scheidig und Tobias Wolf for "Pharma Blister Packaging Designed for Recycling." With this award-winning project, the R&D Team Neuhaus & Brensbach developed an innovative primary packaging solution that is both sustainable and patient-centric.

During the evening award ceremony, the prize was accepted on behalf of the team by Roman Borkowski, Chief Quality and Regulatory Officer, and Erika Unjaev, Senior Specialist R&D, who expressed their delight at receiving this recognition for their colleagues’ impressive achievement.

Röchling Medical Innovation Award

Novel, Patient-Centric, and Recyclable Blister Packaging for Pharmaceutical Applications

The newly developed solution focuses on supporting safe, simple, and efficient medication administration. The innovative design concept enables patients to open blister packs more easily. This development is part of our Patient-Centric Design approach, through which we have previously collaborated with Heidelberg University Hospital to create ergonomic closures for pill containers based on user studies.

In addition to being patient-friendly, Röchling Medical’s new packaging concept is designed for recyclability—an increasingly critical consideration, particularly in light of future regulatory requirements, such as the EU’s new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which may also apply to pharmaceutical packaging materials.

Our R&D department is pleased to receive this award and the recognition for its work. The team is actively continuing development on this project, and we will soon share more details about our newly developed, patient-focused pharmaceutical blister solution here.
