Our trainees: among the best with energy-saving ideas

Our “energy scouts” are at the forefront with a compressed air control system.

The two compressed air lines run like rings through our production building in Worms. One line supplies several halls at once and provides sufficient compressed air around the clock.

“Surely we can save a lot here,” thought one of our apprentice teams. Jannes, Kaan, Anthony and Jonas then took a close look at the compressed air supply. The result: a permanent supply is often not even necessary. This is because compressed air is only needed in some areas, especially at weekends.

Air off, please!

Jannes explains the concept: “Generating compressed air requires a lot of energy. If you can switch off individual halls, it reduces the load on the generators and saves a lot.” The idea is to install remote-controlled detour in the ring mains. This means that only the halls that are currently being worked in are supplied.

This is how the project for the “Energy Scouts” was born. This competition is organized once a year by the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK). Teams of trainees with ideas for saving energy in their company can take part.

Final round of the “Energy Scouts” competition

It was a complete success. The project was nominated as one of the best in Rheinhessen for the final round. Our colleagues were therefore able to present their concept to a large audience in Mainz. They were sure to be recognized by the jury and the audience.
And we were also impressed. Because after the assessment by an external institute, we know: If implemented, we can save many thousands of euros per year. All investments would have paid for themselves within four months. So it's no wonder that the project was nominated by the IHK.

Now it's time to implement it in Worms. Energy scout Anthony is already looking forward to the results: “It's great to leave your mark on the company. And if we can contribute to sustainability and save money with our idea, that's even better.”

Thank you Jannes, Kaan, Anthony and Jonas for your great contribution!
