  • Opening ceremony at the Worms location
  • Smooth construction phase lasting almost eleven months
  • New building constructed in response to Röchling Automotive’s global growth and the lack of capacity in the old building

Worms, 11 May 2017… Three stories, 4,500 square meters, space for 250 employees: Röchling Automotive has successfully completed construction of its new Technical Center in Worms. While the official opening ceremony conducted by the Röchling Automotive Germany management team took place today (Thursday), the around 650 employees at the location and their families had the opportunity to visit the new building during the inauguration festivities last Saturday.

“We are extremely delighted that our new Technical Center in Worms has been completed on schedule within eleven months. Alongside our Technical Centers in Kunshan in China, Troy in the USA and Leifers in Italy, the Technical Center in Worms is the fourth one that we have been able to get up and running within a very short space of time,” said Erwin Doll, President and CEO of the Röchling Automotive Group. He added that this new building was constructed in response to the global growth that Röchling Automotive is currently enjoying.

A total of around €9 million was invested in the Worms location, where products are developed for every single one of Röchling Automotive’s locations all over the world. The old building had to be demolished to make way for this three-story building with a gross floor area of around 4,500 square meters. At the official opening ceremony, which was attended by not only the Röchling Automotive Executive Board and Management Board but also company employees, representatives of the City of Worms and local business leaders, Robert Eimer – the Managing Director of Röchling Automotive Germany – explained why it was necessary to open a new Technical Center here. First, the original office space was reaching the limits of its capacity.

The new building, however, offers sufficient space for around 250 employees from Innovation, Business Development, Development, Project Management, Quality Planning, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Purchasing.

“Second, this new building will be a much more pleasant working environment for our employees, offering a state-of-the-art office concept that appeals to specialists and engineers alike and ensures barrier-free communication,” said Robert Eimer. Specifically, this means open-plan offices and a variety of room concepts for meetings and discussions. For example, the new building offers not only ground-floor meeting rooms that can be flexibly configured to accommodate anywhere between 10 and 100 people, but also micro meeting areas and project and meeting rooms. Coffee bars with break areas, a terrace and a furnished outdoor area further enhance the attractiveness of the location.  “To appeal to

specialists and offer them the best-possible conditions, we have placed the emphasis on modernity. All rooms in the new Technical Center are air-conditioned and we even have a private showroom for new products,” explained Robert Eimer.

In addition to the state-of-the-art workplace design, the beautiful location commanding views of the Rhine and just a short walk away from the “Wäldchen” local recreation area make working for Röchling Automotive in Worms a highly attractive proposition. The construction of the new Technical Center represents a clear commitment to the Worms location. The Mayor of Worms, Michael Kissel, is also delighted: “I am confident that Röchling Automotive’s new Technical Center in Worms will help to enhance the attractiveness of the location for specialists.” At the same time, he added, the new development center is a great example of the bundling of competencies in the region.

The automotive supplier employs around 650 people at the location, around 320 of whom work in production.
