New Facility in Peine: Röchling Automotive Commences Operations at New Production Hall

  • Growth and investment in Peine
  • Opening ceremony for new production hall
  • Production area extended to 12,100 square meters

Peine, March 13, 2017… Following a construction time of just eight months, Röchling Automotive’s new production hall in Peine finally commenced operations this Monday. The hall was opened as part of an official ceremony, which was attended not only by the Executive Board and the management team, but also by customers, employees and representatives of local business.

The new hall has a floor space of 1,800 square meters and is equipped with a 50-tonne crane system, its own material supply and a drying area. The granulate dryer is required for the supply of materials. It is used to dry the granulate, from which the plastic parts are manufactured, before it is introduced to the manufacturing process. This new facility brings the automotive supplier’s total production area at Woltorfer Straße up to 12,100 square meters.

“This new production hall is our response to the continued growth of Röchling Automotive. In Peine, we had reached the limits of our production capacity. With the new hall, we are now able to successfully fulfill all incoming orders,” explained Erwin Doll, CEO of the Röchling Automotive Group. The automotive supplier had acquired the land for the new facility back in 2014. It is directly connected to the also new Röchling logistics hall, which was built last spring. Röchling has invested a total €13.6 million on constructing the two halls.

“We are putting ourselves in a good position for the future by extending our logistics and production areas,” commented Plant Manager Uwe Schultz. The machinery at the new production hall comprises two large-scale machines and a number of subsequent processing machines, which will be used to produce vehicle parts for two major automotive manufacturers.

27 million parts a year are produced at the Peine site. This equates to over 150 different products being produced on 273 series production systems. Around 32 truck loads are required to meet the daily delivery needs. The Peine site employs a workforce of approximately 350 people working in 22 different professions, including 6 different types of apprenticeship.
