Mannheim (Germany), February 12, 2007 – The Röchling Group has acquired the Canadian company Symplastics Limited, based in Orangeville, Ontario. Symplastics manufactures thermoplastic semi-finished products and other special plastic products, employs 138 people and last year achieved sales of 26 million Canadian dollars (around EUR 17 million). “The acquisition of Symplastics is a further step in the development of our position in North America. In the USA and Canada Röchling now has yearly sales of over USD 200 million and nearly 1,000 employees,” stated Georg Duffner, President and CEO of the Röchling Group.Symplastics Limited has specialized knowledge of processing the extremely hard-wearing mate¬rial PE-UHMW (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene). Products made from this material are found in many industrial applications in which particular glide properties and abrasion resistance are required.
