Röchling Joins Other Renowned Companies in Championing Tolerance and Diversity

Our Corporate Group Covers More Than 90 Nations, Which Is Why We’re Proud to Say: “Made in Germany – Made by Vielfalt”

Mannheim, 18 April 2019 | Röchling is one of 50 companies who have joined together under the slogan “Made in Germany – Made by Vielfalt” [“Vielfalt” is the German word for “diversity”] to champion greater tolerance and open-minded-ness. This joint communication campaign was launched in March and involves the placement of an advertisement in selected print media in Germany as well as on bill-boards in 15 German towns and cities—including Mannheim.

The aim of this joint initiative is to make a clear statement of our commitment to greater tolerance and to fighting xenophobia. The focal point is an advertisement bearing the slogan “Made in Germany – Made by Vielfalt.” The text on the advertisement explains the companies’ position: It doesn’t matter where you’re from, the most important thing is that we coexist in a spirit of peace and tolerance. In this way, the participating companies are making a clear stand against xenophobia.

“As family-run companies, we are well aware of our social responsibility. Encompassing almost 12,000 employees from more than 90 nations, we are already enjoying the fruits of this coexistence. For us, an open culture and tolerance are essential to our survival on the market,” says Johannes Freiherr von Salmuth, Chairman of the Supervisory Boards of the Röchling Group.

The idea was the brainchild of Dr. Timm Mittelsten Scheid, shareholding partner at Vorwerk and member of the Vorwerk entrepreneurial family. “I am personally extremely interested in this issue. In this era of sociopolitical debate, I feel that it is important for business, too, to set an example,” he says, explaining his commitment to the cause. “That’s why I’m so delighted that my idea has met with such a positive response among family-owned companies.”
