Röchling inaugurating new Logistics Centre

New Logistics Centre at Röchling's in Troisdorf: Taking into account the latest insights in supply chain management makes optimised operational procedures and improved service for customers possible.

Enlargement of capacity and logistics at Troisdorf
Haren/Troisdorf - Röchling Engineering Plastics Group inaugurated a new Logistics Centre at the Troisdorf location on 13th July 2012. The almost 10,000 square metre large building was built in a construction period of a mere six months.
The new building was necessary, because the existing storage capacity was no longer adequate for the dynamically growing business volume and what's more space was to be created for new production facilities.

Strategically favourable site
By building the new Logistics Centre, Röchling utilises the synergies between the Haren (Ems) and Troisdorf locations. The new Logistics Centre has at its disposal a strategically favourable site in terms of traffic that is to be utilised in order to distribute plastic products from the Haren parent plant. This enables ideal itineraries to be planned for distribution to customers of the two locations.

10 - 15 trucks per day can be dispatched on average through the new Logistics Centre that has already been working in two-shift operation since 2nd July. Moreover, the hall is planned according to the latest findings of supply chain management, thus offering optimised operational procedures and improved service for customers. In this vein, for example, pallets are accepted in the ERP system directly with storage per WLAN, so that stock availability is immediately visible for sellers at all on-line locations.

Good co-operation
The new logistics hall was built by the Pütz Real Estate Group. They purchased the property for building from TroPark GmbH and rent it to Röchling. Ludger Vehring, Director of Production & Engineering in the Business Unit of Thermoplastic Semi-Finished Products, and responsible at Röchling for executing the project, underscored the good co-operation with the Pütz Real Estate Group, TroPark GmbH and the Troisdorf Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Stadtmarketing GmbH TROWISTA (TROWISTA Economic Promotion and Urban Marketing) and expressed his thanks to all those involved.

Dr. Joachim Brunswicker, Managing Director of Röchling Engineering Plastics KG, emphasised: “Inauguration of the new Logistics Centre and the planned development of capacity are an impressive commitment of the Röchling Group to the Troisdorf location and underline its significance within the Business Unit of High-Performance Plastics”. 10 additional jobs are created at the Troisdorf location by Production and Logistics being enlarged there.

PVC competence centre
The facility in Troisdorf forms the competence centre for PVC in Röchling's Business Unit of High-Performance Plastics. In Troisdorf, Röchling produces compact sheets, integral and free-foam sheets as well as welding wire under the well-known brands Trovidur®, Trovitex® and Trovicel®. With the probably biggest variety in this field, Röchling ranks amongst the leading and most innovative manufacturers in Europe.

These products are implemented in industry, such as, for example for the chemical processing industry, as well as in the advertising industry, for promotional signs or digital printing. Another important marketing field is the building industry. The customers for the products from Troisdorf are, above all, trading companies, undertaking distribution to processors and final consumers throughout the world.
