Life Cycle Assessment

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is based on two standards, ISO 14040 and ISO 14044, and addresses the environmental aspects and potential environmental impacts throughout the life cycle of a product, from raw material extraction, production and use to treatment and disposal at the end of the life cycle. A comprehensive view of the entire life cycle is crucial for assessing the sustainability of a product. This approach makes it possible to combine ecological, technical and economic benefits.

In order to live up to our vision of "We Drive Sustainable Mobility", we identify critical factors and develop innovative solutions to improve both the production process and the environmental compatibility of our products. 

The environmental impact of our products is evaluated from the extraction of raw materials to the factory gate. 

We carry out a comprehensive life cycle assessment that takes into account all emissions from both our internal production and our supply chain. 

This assessment focuses on the environmental impact of a specific unit - a finished part, leaving the factory gate.
 

Our implementation

In 2023, we launched the LCA project with the aim of developing an automated approach to the life cycle assessment of all our products. 

A cross-departmental team was formed to gather the necessary information from different areas of the company and implement the project. The Sphera LCA for Experts software was selected to calculate the environmental impact according to the LCA methodology. Due to the availability of the required data in our ERP system, LCA for Experts was integrated into the process. This approach will make it possible to create LCAs for all new products.

In terms of environmental impact, the impact category global warming potential in kgCO2eq is currently assessed, which is an indicator of potential global warming due to greenhouse gas emissions.
