Flame-retardant materials for ventilating systems
The importance of the eduction of polluted air from buildings and chemical plants is matched by the quality and reliability demanded of the materials used. When it comes to the design of ventilating systems such as fans, ventilation ducts and enclosures, designers place particular requirements on, for example, resistance to chemicals, flame-retardant properties and electrical conductivity. Röchling provides proven materials for this purpose.
Polypropylene for ventilating systems
With our Polystone® PPs grey, you have a flame-retardant polypropylene whose high resistance to chemicals and flame retardance have led it to be used in ventilation systems right across the world. If electrical conductivity is required in addition to its flame-retardant properties, we recommend using Polystone® PPs EL black.
Properties:
- High degree of resistance to aggressive chemicals
- Excellent welding and processing properties
- High rigidity
- Electrically conductive (Polystone® PPs EL black)

PVC for ventilating systems
PVC materials are used in ventilating systems as well as polypropylene. Manufacturers of ventilating systems rely on PVC depending on the type of chemical exhaust gas, fire safety requirements or if adhesive bonding capability is needed. With Trovidur® EC N, Röchling offers an unplasticised PVC which combines excellent flame-retardant properties with high resistance to chemicals.
Properties
- Good impact strength
- High resistance to acids, alkaline solution and saline solutions
- Excellent welding and adhesive bonding properties
- Good electric and thermal insulation properties
- Flame-retardant, self-extinguishing after withdrawal of flame
