Röchling takes over Schwartz GmbH Technical Plastics

With the acquisition of Schwartz GmbH, Röchling is strengthening its expertise in large format cast parts

Inclusion into international group offers good prospects

Haren/Germany, 22 November 2018 – Röchling Engineering Plastics SE & Co. KG, Haren, takes over plastic processor Schwartz GmbH Technical Plastics, Xanten/Germany, pending the necessary competition authority approvals.

As an international group of companies, Schwartz GmbH specialises in the manufacture of moulded components from cast polyamide and offers in particular large-volume and highly resilient machined parts made from engineering plastics for virtually any industry. Over 240 members of staff are currently employed at four sites in Germany, the Czech Republic, China and the USA.

With this acquisition, Röchling advances its growth strategy and with new technologies such as the manufacturing of large format cast parts from cast polyamide, it particularly enhances its competence for the conveying and lifting technology, oil and gas industry, intralogistics and the building of elevators. The machining group in Röchling’s Industrial Division is one of the world's leaders in the machining of thermoplastics and composites, with over 20 closely networked and globally positioned sites. The companies specialise in the production of high-quality machined parts and components for almost every sector of the capital goods industry.

Franz Lübbers, member of the Executive Board and responsible for Röchling Group’s Industrial Division, states, “With this acquisition we enhance our competence with new technologies and anticipate synergies with our global sites for the manufacture of machined parts. They will benefit from the range of services of the Schwartz Group and the application and material expertise, as well as the additional processing possibilities of the Röchling Group."

The Schwartz Group is globally active, with international production and sales subsidiaries in the Czech Republic, China and the USA, particularly as a provider of cable sheaves, guide pulleys and special cast parts made of PA6G, PA12G (PA=polyamide). The production of large-volume cast components measuring up to 3.5 metres in diameter and weighing up to 2 tons is one key area of production.

Röchling can offer milled parts with a length of up to 14,000 mm, a diameter of 4,000 mm and weight of up to 5 tons, or large turned parts with a diameter of 2,000 mm. However, the product range also features micro-machining of small components with a diameter of only 0.5 mm. In the area of cast polyamide, Röchling offers shape-optimized and fully molded cast parts made from SUSTAMID 6G for numerous industries.

In the future, Schwartz GmbH will be managed by Thomas Schlag, Ralf van Holt and Heinz Dirksen as chairman of the Executive Board. As Director of Sales and Marketing for the Business Unit Machined Components, Dirksen is together with Dietmar Telgenkämper, Business Unit Director Production and Engineering, also responsible for the machining activities at Röchling Industrial. Managing Partner Dr. Stephan Peiffer, who has headed the Schwartz Group since 2001, will resign from the company with the takeover.
