More than seven million euros are being invested by leading plastics processor Röchling Industrial in the building of the Engineering Center in Lahnstein. A modern and representative building is being constructed there, which will bring together central areas of the company. Röchling Industrial's second-largest site processes high-performance plastics that are used in particularly demanding areas of application. With the construction of the Engineering Center, Röchling Industrial is strengthening its innovation capacity and its leading market position. The building will be completed at the end of 2025.
Engineering Center sets course for future growth
“Our aim is to remain the innovation leader in the market for high-performance plastics. That is why we are investing this impressive sum in our Lahnstein site and setting the course for our future success,” explained Franz Lübbers, CEO of Röchling Industrial and Managing Director of the site, at the ground-breaking ceremony. Once completed, the new building will have an area of more than 2,600 square metres.
The Engineering Center will be home to a state-of-the-art test laboratory, quality assurance and business development. Meeting rooms for customer visits, management offices and parts of the administration will also be located there. “The new building gives us the opportunity to react even faster and more flexibly to customer requirements. It also facilitates collaboration between the departments so that we can push ahead with the development and testing of new products,” emphasises Mustafa Altintas, Technical Managing Director in Lahnstein. “We would particularly like to thank the town of Lahnstein for the uncomplicated and trusting cooperation in this matter.”
“With the Engineering Center, we are focusing on our customers and their requirements,” explains Florian Helmich CSO/CTO of Röchling Industrial. “We know the challenges our customers face and offer them the ideal material for their application. The Engineering Center significantly strengthens our ability to innovate in the field of high-performance plastics.”
Change in the management team
With the retirement of Franz Lübbers on 1 July 2025 and Mustafa Altintas at the end of the year, the plastics processor is also announcing a change in the site's management as of 1 January 2025.
Eugen Schmidt, Managing Director Asian Operations, will be appointed to the Management on 1 January. He has been with Röchling in Lahnstein since 2006 and is currently responsible for Röchling Industrial's Asian sites.
In addition, Florian Helmich, CSO/CTO Röchling Industrial, joins the Management as Chairman. He began his career at Röchling in 1994 and, as Chief Sales and Chief Technology Officer, is also a member of the Executive Board of Röchling Industrial.
Iris Willrich, currently Head of Human Resources in Lahnstein, will also be appointed to the Management. She began her career at Röchling in 1985 and was promoted to Head of Human Resources in 1996.
“Eugen Schmidt, Florian Helmich and Iris Willrich have all played a key role in shaping the success of Röchling Industrial in recent years. With them in the management of the site, we are convinced that we will continue our success story in Lahnstein,” emphasises Lübbers. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mustafa Altintas for his commitment and his excellent and long-standing management of the company. Thanks to his foresight and entrepreneurial spirit, Lahnstein has developed into one of Röchling Industrial's most important locations in recent years.”
