Plastic materials for bus construction

Plastics for safe and cost-efficient buses

A bus only earns money when it's moving. That's why every operator wants to reduce maintenance times and improve efficiency. At the heart is the question: How can passengers be taken to their destination quickly, reliably and safely? Designers must therefore meet many requirements if they are to develop buses with low fuel consumption, high reliability and the maximum passenger safety. Our plastics support you: depending on the material, they are very light, for instance, mechanically stable and flame retardant. You can use them to develop safe, light and fuel-efficient buses.

Application examples

External and internal panelling

With their low weight, high strength and flame retardant properties, our Durostone® glass fibre-reinforced profiles are used for external and internal panelling in buses around the world.

Panelling for interiors

Maywoflamm® ECE is a flame-protected ABS specially designed for use in vehicle construction. The material meets the requirements of Annexes VI, VII and VIII of ECE R-118, making it particularly suitable for the manufacture of components for buses such as internal panelling.
